We provide both oil and staining options when we provide a quote. Both will protect the deck, but staining the deck provides more a rich colour as well. If you like the natural colour of your deck you could choose an oil instead of a stain, but for the majority of the decks we work on, we recommend using a stain to achieve a more rich and solid look.
This will depend on the conditions your deck is exposed to and the type of stain or oil used. For the staining and oiling which we offer, the deck should be protected for 12-24 months and even longer in some cases.
This will depend on the state that your deck is in. If you dirt has moss and grime on it, then we’ll provide a full pressure wash with our soft brush in order to prepare the deck before staining. Other decks may just need a good sweep with a stiff broom to clear away any debris.
